Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Komla desktop application and website (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Tafjord Invest AS ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Service, you agree to these terms.

Komla's source code is published under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL) at github.com/tordrt/komla. Your rights to use, study, modify, and share that source code come from the AGPL, and nothing in these terms limits them. These terms cover the official builds we distribute, paid licenses, and the online services we operate, such as license activation, updates, and the Komla-managed AI utilities.

1. The Service

Komla is a desktop application that lets you run multiple AI coding agents in parallel using git worktree-isolated workspaces. The free tier allows unlimited local workspaces and up to 4 concurrently running SSH workspaces. A paid license unlocks unlimited SSH workspaces.

Optional features such as remote control from a paired browser or phone and SSH workspaces on your own servers let others act on your machine or let Komla act on remote hosts. You are responsible for the devices you pair and the hosts you connect, and for keeping them secure.

2. License

When you purchase a Komla license, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable license key that unlocks the paid features. Each license is valid for one user and may be activated on up to three devices simultaneously.

Monthly and yearly licenses are subscriptions billed via Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled; the license is valid through the end of each paid period. Lifetime licenses are a one-time purchase that grant a perpetual license — the software continues to work indefinitely and includes future updates.

3. Free Tier

The free tier is provided as-is, with no obligation on our part. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the free tier at any time. The workspace limit for the free tier may change.

All payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are shown in US dollars or euros depending on your region and any applicable taxes are added at checkout. By completing a purchase, you agree to Stripe's terms of service.

7. Intellectual Property

The Komla name, its logo, and the website content are the intellectual property of Tafjord Invest AS. The AGPL covers the source code but grants no rights to the Komla name or logo, so a modified version you distribute must not present itself as Komla or as an official build. Your license grants usage rights only — it does not transfer ownership of any intellectual property.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the software will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with all systems or third-party AI agents.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tafjord Invest AS shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for your license.

10. AI Utilities

Komla includes built-in AI utility features: automatic workspace naming (enabled by default), automatic branch naming (disabled by default), and commit message generation when you request it. These features send the prompts you give a new workspace, or your staged diff, to a Komla-managed inference service, which uses OpenRouter and the model providers it routes to. This service is available only in official builds; builds from source use a provider you configure. It is currently provided free of charge; we reserve the right to modify, limit, or discontinue it at any time.

Text sent to the AI utility service is not stored and is processed by providers that do not train on your data. AI-generated names and commit messages may be inaccurate; review them before relying on them. You can disable AI utilities or configure your own provider in the app settings. 11. Third-Party Services

Komla integrates with third-party AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex CLI, etc.) and third-party AI inference providers (such as OpenRouter) for utility features. We are not responsible for the availability, performance, or terms of these third-party services. Your use of them is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your license if you violate these terms. Upon termination, your right to use the paid features ceases. You may continue to use the free tier unless separately restricted. Termination does not affect your rights under the AGPL.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Norway. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Norway.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
